Just what I needed September 4, 2010 Skeleton I'm using this in conjunction with a RoadPro RPSL-7000 AC to DC 6 Amp Power Converter that I bought on Amazon to power a car stereo amplifier from a wall outlet. I crimped the power and ground leads from the amp to the leads on this item and everything worked fine. Note that there is a fuse installed in this item that is probably only rated at 2 or 3 amps, so if you need to draw more current through it, like I do, then you will need to replace the fuse with a higher amperage fuse, but that's readily available at Home Depot and plently of other places. So far, no problems.
fused 12V auto plug August 4, 2010 D. Walters (Asheville, NC) This has saved me several times -- much easier to replace the fuse in this than in the truck -- so when I do dumb things and overload it the fuse in the plug blows and not the truck. I like it.
A great value with the free shipping July 10, 2010 Twistedwankel (FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Got this for my daughter's car compressor to replace her smashed on. The fuse is a little on the smallish size but we have a bigger one just in case it blows? Obviously the cigar lighter is fused but I assume they put a smallish fuse in for ipods and delicate things.
Mission Essential November 27, 2009 Riverrat (Asian AOR) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Worked as I anticipated they would ; designed for good current flow and no drops in current for long periods of useage ,ease of interfaseing after long useage by bayonette wire ends ,adds to fuse time and doesn't run defeciently hot , cost effective for man hours used ; I will reorder to have spares on hand .
FUSE SIZE November 19, 2009 Ms. KnitEng (close to the Smoky Mountains) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
one of the issues is to correctly wire up your plug. If correct should work or blow fuse.
2nd issue is mine had a 5 amp fuse and the small air compressor I was replacing the is rated for 8 amps. Now I will put in the smallest fuse or a 10 amp fuse later. the other air compressor i am going to repair, is rated for a 20 amp fuse and I am not sure if I will fry the 2nd one or not. Time will tell.
The first one has worked but I have not used it for an extended amount of time (it usually took 8-10 minutes to air my car tire to 34 psi). so far so good.
Wish the amp size was show in ad and instruction to wire up were better.
Replacement price of new auto car compression makes this a good value and worth effort.
